When you then go to insert a block where the name matches one of the previously stored blocks, ACAD (including ACADE) will use the pre-existing block in the dwg. For example, If I open up an existing drawing and a brand new drawing and use the Icon Menu to insert the same symbol into both drawings, the new drawing will get the updated version of the symbol and the old drawing will get an outdated version.
Second, after updating a symbol, I can not always use the new symbol in a drawing that had the old version. First, after a symbol is edited, the changes do not show up when the symbol is inserted anew or viewed with the Symbol Builder until I restart ACE.
