This tool will swap one block with a different block and transfer any corresponding attributes. In ACADE there is a tool called 'SWAP/UPDATE Block'. When you then go to insert a block where the name matches one of the previously stored blocks, ACAD (including ACADE) will use the pre-existing block in the dwg. When you insert a block into a dwg (ACADE or plain ACAD block) a copy is stored within the dwg itself.Įven if you remove all visible blocks, there is still a copy in the dwg. Is there a way to update symbols that I do not know about that will solve this issue? My questions are as follows: Do individual drawings (or projects) link to different libraries by default depending on when they were created? (the symbol was deleted from one folder and moved to another since the 'old' drawing was created).ĭo drawings (or projects) have a cache of symbols that needs to be updated/deleted when symbols change or move from one location to another? For example, If I open up an existing drawing and a brand new drawing and use the Icon Menu to insert the same symbol into both drawings, the new drawing will get the updated version of the symbol and the old drawing will get an outdated version.

Second, after updating a symbol, I can not always use the new symbol in a drawing that had the old version. First, after a symbol is edited, the changes do not show up when the symbol is inserted anew or viewed with the Symbol Builder until I restart ACE.
